Protocol Unit

The Protocol Unit has the following functions and tasks under the Law on Defence and Armed Forces of the Republic of Bulgaria (LDAFRB):

• Organizes the preparation and conduct of official meetings and visits at home and abroad at the levels of Minister of Defence, Deputy Ministers of Defence, Permanent Undersecretary of Defence, Chief of Defence and Deputy Chiefs of Defence;
• Arranges and coordinates with other structural units of the Ministry of Defence programs for official meetings and visits at home and abroad of the Minister, the Permanent Undersecretary of Defence and the Chief of Defence;
• Organizes the preparation and conduct of military holidays and ceremonial events where participation of the Minister of Defence is required;
• Organizes the participation of the Minister of Defence, the Deputy Ministers of Defence, the Permanent Undersecretary of Defence and the Chief of Defence in official holidays and ceremonial events of national and local importance;
• Proposes level of representation in protocol events at state level where participation of the Ministry of Defence is required;
• Organizes translation of official correspondence and documentation necessary for the activities at the levels of Minister of Defence, Deputy Ministers of Defence, Permanent Undersecretary of Defence and Chief of Defence;
• Arranges issuance of diplomatic passports, service passports and visas for the purpose of overseas official travels of employees serving at the Ministry of Defence and the Bulgarian Armed Forces, representing those persons at the accordingly authorized Services and Diplomatic Missions, and declares the needs for airfares purchased.
